This rescued textile from Zoffany’s Koyari Collection, a gorgeous 100% wool antique-style paisley, feels wonderfully soft, like a wool shawl. The paisley teardrop motif is thought to have originated about 2,000 years ago near Kashmir in northern India. The name paisley was given to the design by the Scottish town of Paisley, who made lovely “Kashmir” shawls as early as 1800 in these now-iconic paisley designs. This crimson design on an linen color background, is paired with coordinating solid linen back and trimmed with fluffy crimson chenille poms to pop the crimson paisley design.
